Labor Relations Forum

The ATA Labor Relations Forum provides a resource for ATA members in human resources, payroll, benefits, operations, legal and senior management to discuss the latest employment and labor challenges facing their organization and the industry.  In the contact center industry, our labor pool drives our success.  Given the size and demands of our workforce, we all regularly encounter unique employment and labor issues.

We are continuing to see an increase in: (1) federal and state employment and labor legislation; (2) administrative agency investigations (i.e., the Department of Labor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, OSHA, OFCCP, NLRB, and the like); (3) the number of court filings with regard to labor and employment law matters; and (4) class action lawsuits (i.e., allegations of wage and hour violations and systemic discrimination).  The Labor Relations Forum provides a venue for members to discuss best practices, proven solutions and to stay abreast of employment and labor law changes at the federal and state level.

How the Forum works:

The Labor Relations Forum is set up as an open committee where everyone will have an opportunity to participate.  The Forum participants drive the discussion.  Chad Richter, a management-side labor and employment lawyer with years of experience representing clients in the contact center industry will initiate the monthly discussions.  The Forum participants will discuss critical issues and provide practical solutions based on experience within the industry.  The Forum meets monthly via conference call to discuss the latest challenges in this area.

An email account, LRF@ataconnect.org, has been established where labor relation officers can pose questions prior to the call that will be addressed during our next monthly teleconference.

In addition to a discussion regarding human resource and employee relation issues, we will also discuss proactive preventative measures and strategies to avoid costly employment litigation including successful employment and labor practices in our industry, tips to conduct HR audits, wage and hour compliance programs, training topics and systems, reducing fraud under the Family and Medical Leave Act, accommodation obligations under Title VII and the Americans with Disabilities Act, workers’ compensation claims management, and much more.

Please join other members of the ATA in the Labor Relations Forum and share your experience and knowledge with your colleagues in our industry and, most importantly, gain the tools and information you and your organization need to be a success in the area of labor relations in the contact center industry.
